This close to Christmas, I hear the same thing from alot of people. “Things are tight right now”, I shutter everytime I hear those words. I think about their families, spouses, & children. I wonder what will their Christmas be like?

I’ve been there. Like it was yesterday, I remember a X-mas a few years ago where my wife & I were struggling. With 3 little ones anticipating the holiday, we had a total of $200 to spend.

Now you and I both know that Christmas is not supposed to be about the presents, but try selling that story to a 2,4,&7 year old. It doesn’t go over so well.

My wife, bless her heart did as good as she possibly could with the money she had available. However when X-mas rolled around and the kids starting opening gifts, it was over in a few minutes. Although the kids never said anything, you could see a little disappointment in their faces.

I believe any good parent wants their children to have as much as possible. Maybe not spoil them rotten, but let them have that one memory once a year where they were spoiled on that one day.

That day was breaking point. I had enough, we were working our backsides off and for what? $200 for x-mas? That wasn’t going to cut it.

Maybe Im all alone here, has anyone else gone through this?

I started searching for anything that would bring in an income or extra money.

Have you ever stayed up late at night and watched those infomercials and wondered, “who would ever buy this junk?”. Well, that’s me. I bought into all kinds of crap. It always seemed that every program I became involved in always had something missing. Like they were not telling me everything, or just leading me to an even bigger purchase.

One program intially cost me $80. I received the information, then the calls started coming in. Offering all these other services that would “garuantee” the success of my new little business. I deciced to take a plunge and buy everything that they had to offer. Doing this was supposed to put my program on auto-pilot, and all I had to do was collect a check.

6 months and $4000- four thousand dollars later, I had not made ONE cent! I poured everything I had and didn’t have into this thing and it practically crushed me. Needless to say I just about jumped onto the “everything is a scam” train.

Who would of blamed me?

I didn’t understand then, that there were simple little ways to earn money online. All I had to do was find the right people to talk to. I’m glad that I didn’t give up then, or I never would have made it to where I am now.

Christmas is different now. We asked our kids to make up lists, and it is so exciting that the only diffulculty is simply going out to pick up the gifts. I’m proud that the only concern my wife and I have is how are going to get it all to fit in the area the tree is in. I think part of our Christmas will be celebrated in the garage.

I truly do not say these things to offend you or to try to impress you.

I simply want you to have these same or similar experiences.

You may not think so, but I would love to be in your position now. I had to spend countless hours and money, finding ways to earn online. Now, it’s not uncommon for people to start earning money there first day.

Do you think you could become successful if you could watch videos showing you exactly what to do and how to do it?

How about if you had access to a live support desk? I mean real people.

Only you can decide if you are ready.

The White House plans to unveil the first group of grants from a $2 billion fund for battery research in the next few weeks with some of the funds directed to states like Michigan, a top economic adviser said tonight. As part of the $787 billion stimulus package approved in February, Congress agreed to include $2 billion in battery research grants. Unlike the $25 billion advanced vehicle retooling program, the grants for battery research do not have to be repaid.

Ed DeSeve, the president’s special adviser on the stimulus program, said an announcement on the first round of battery grants would happen shortly. But he declined to say what automakers, suppliers or battery companies might be receiving the grants.

“I think you’ll see over the next week or so … some industrialization focus for example on the battery grants that are coming,” DeSeve told regional reporters this evening during a roundtable meeting, noting that there are also Energy Department loan guarantees in the works. “It makes sense to put those in places where there is productive working capacity — people who can do the jobs — there are plants where the jobs can exist, and I think you are going to start to see more and more of that over time.”

General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC have all applied for battery grant funding, as have some other battery companies and suppliers.

In March, President Barack Obama renewed his campaign pledge to push for 1 million plug-in electric hybrid vehicles on U.S. roads by 2015, promoting a $2 billion battery research program, saying it “will spark the manufacturing of the batteries and parts that run these cars, build or upgrade the factories that will produce them, and in the process, create thousands of jobs right here in America.”

Michigan lawmakers pushed hard for the research money during the debate over the stimulus package, saying it was crucial to helping the auto industry develop next-generation plug-in electric hybrid vehicles.

Obama’s call for 1 million plug-in hybrids by 2015 was first made in a Lansing campaign speech last year. Auto manufacturers have said they worry the plan is too ambitious.

GM plans to begin production of its extended range electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt, late next year; Ford said in January it will bring a fully electric vehicle to market by 2011 and a plug-in hybrid in 2012. Chrysler will have produced 100 all-electric vehicles by year’s end, and in January said it plans to have four electric models on the road in 2013. The company says it expects to have 500,000 electric vehicles on the road in four years; Toyota Motor Corp. will have a test fleet of 150 plug-ins on U.S. roads by the end of this year.

The White House said in March the Department of Energy will offer $1.5 million in competitive grants to U.S. developers of advanced batteries, and $500 million for development of other components needed for plug-in hybrids, such as electric motors.

Another $400 million will be used to demonstrate the infrastructure needed to make such vehicles practical, such as plug-in stations for owners to recharge their cars.

Germany has been using a Satellite based warning system (SatWaS) to alert citizens to any occurrence of natural or man-made disasters. The system sends signals to televisions and radios to warn the populace of the danger. Shortcomings are inherent to the system, not everyone may be listening to the radio or watching television. There is an option of installing a network of sirens, but that would be a very costly way to take. Researchers have now come up with a much simpler solution: use of car horns as warning systems.

An eCall emergency system will find its place in all cars manufactured 2010 onwards. Developed by researchers at the INT (Fraunhofer-Institut für Naturwissenschaftlich-Technische Trendanalysen), the system can be used to trigger horns of parked cars to warn of the trouble. The unit is capable of using GPS, so if required, the warnings can be localized to a certain area.

Auto auctions are great places to buy used cars at very low prices. In fact, it is a good idea to check out a couple of car auctions before approaching a dealer or a private party for buying a used car. For those who know nothing about car auctions, here is our “how to” guide to car auctions.

How To Find A Car Auction: Generally the best car auctions are those that are held by government agencies. In order to find out when and where these auctions are going to be held in your locality, you can contact these agencies personally and ask them about the date and venue for their next auction. Gov-Auctions.org is a great source for locating all kinds of car auctions in almost all cities, towns and states.

How To Decide On Which Car To Buy: It is a good idea to have already decided on the type or kind of vehicle that you want to buy before visiting a car auction. You should know what makes, models or years you will want to consider before you start checking out cars at an auction. Once you have your criteria set, closely inspect all the cars that match them. Most car auctions hold previews a day or two before the actual auction where you can examine the vehicles on the block closely. You should consider taking along a mechanic or an auto savvy friend who will be able to inspect the cars for you and tell you which ones are worth buying. Apart from checking the cars physically, note down the vehicle identification numbers (VIN) of the cars that you are interested in and run a vehicle history check for them before you decide to bid. Decide on which car to bid for based on the vehicle’s physical condition and history.

How To Bid At A Car Auction: Bidding at car auctions can turn out to be fast and furious and it is a good idea to go prepared before you actually start bidding. For one, you should set a maximum bidding amount for all the cars that you are interested in based on their present condition, history and market price. You can check out car price guides like the Kelley Blue Book, or the NADA or Edmunds Guide to find out the actual price of the vehicle that you are bidding for. Take care not to exceed the max bid amount that you set for yourself during bidding and you will never have to come home with a bad deal on your hands. Make it a point to attend a few auctions as a spectator before placing your own bid. That way you will be more confident, know how the auctions work, jargon used and the auction process which will lead to better buying success.

Freshman year in colleges is also known as the academic baptism of fire; you find yourself thrust into a pool seemingly populated by nothing other than big fishes. Here are some tips for improving college study skills.

When studying for college, it is important to note what’s important in readings and lectures.

• Scan the course syllabus, survey the textbook, preview each reading assignment, and review your notes before each lecture.

• Read your texts as if you are carrying a conversation.

•expert in college reading and study skills, signal words provide clues as to the direction the chapter or lecture is going.

• Highlight and/or note down key ideas in texts and lectures.

Master your material.

• Know the material inside and out; you should be able to communicate the key idea of your material in your own words; you should be able to ask probing questions about the material and come up with an answer.

• Summarize your texts and combine your text summary with your notes.

Concentrate.

• Create or find an environment conducive for concentration, an area with good lighting and little or no noise and other distractions; make this area your regular study area.

• Stock up on supplies that aid in concentration such as a comfortable chair, bookstand, brain food (an apple or peanuts), soothing music, and aroma therapy candles.

• Take breaks every once in a while if you feel your concentration is slipping; stretch a little, walk around the room, or find someone to chat with and share a joke or two to recharge.

Study groups

The subject matters and available references are more extensive; being in a study group lessens the pressure of having to scour for all the necessary references and allows the opportunity to engage in intelligent discourses over course topics that can genuinely broaden your understanding of the topic.

Discover what works for you; everyone is unique and only you can discover the ideal rhythm for studying in college.
